…CloudResearch also has a separate pool of participants it recruits itself, called Connect. In his demonstration of the failings of MTurk, Kay ran the same study on Connect and got… much higher data quality, even though he paid participants the same rate.
Researchers from MIT, Stanford, and other top institutions found that Connect samples consistently ranked highest in attentiveness, effort, and honesty, ensuring exceptional data quality for your research needs
(see Stagnaro et al., 2024).
Connect NR refers to a Nationally Representative sample on Connect, matched to the US census based on age, race, gender, and ethnicity. Both the regular sample and the nationally representative one result in the highest data quality. Image adapted from Stagnaro et al., 2024.

Connect has the highest data quality I’ve ever gotten! I’m not sure how you do it, but it’s incredible.
Chase Herndon
Social Psychology Doctoral Candidate
Kansas State University
The platform is great, it’s super fast and almost everyone passes attention checks.
Grant E. Donnelly
Assistant Professor of Marketing
Ohio State University
Connect is a great way to get attentive participants very quickly.
Ernest Baskin
Associate Professor
St. Joseph’s University
Connect is easy to use and the data are quite good when looking at open-ended responses and attention checks.
Crystal Hoyt
Professor of Leadership Studies and Psychology University of Richmond
Connect combines best-in-class researcher tools with an outstanding panel of attentive & reliable survey respondents.
Brendan Nyhan
Freedman Presidential Professor
Dartmouth University
The participants we sampled provided more complete, high-quality data than our
traditional sample sources and at a lower cost, allowing us to meet our study goals while maintaining the highest levels of data quality.

With the high-quality data on Connect, rejections are minimal
Across thousands of researchers and tens of thousands of studies on Connect, only 0.35% of participants have been rejected for data quality reasons.
Why do you think Taylor [fictional character] is a Democrat?
I am of the opinion that people identify with a political party for a few main reasons: 1) their close circle of friends/family also identify and it’s human nature to feel like you are part of that group also, 2) they consume news from a source (or sources) that slant the information in a way that demonizes 1 group and glorifies another, 3) they have a specific issue or issues that they truly care about and it drives them to support the party that supports their viewpoint. I really can't assign these to Taylor specifically but it is probably a combination of those I stated.
Could you elaborate on the factors or elements in this scenario (described previously) that generated the most conflict for you personally?
I think it is both the value of human life and the moral implications of stealing. I was angry at the greed of the pharmaceutical company and how hypocritical they can be to create something to save human life but make it almost impossible to obtain by those who cannot afford it. But at the same time, morally I do believe stealing is wrong and that all avenues must be explored before such dire actions need to take place.
Earlier, you expressed interest in the closing speech by the Presidential Nominee at the upcoming RNC through video summaries and articles. Could you share more about these news formats you mentioned?
The Presidential Nominee's speech is important to me because it should not only lay out their vision for a four-year term as President, but it will also likely define how they frame their campaign in the next 3.5 months or so. I'd like to get a detailed understanding of their vision for the country, and the policies they want to implement, as well as understand how they plan to sell themselves to the American voter. But I also want to be efficient in how I learn these things. I DO want detailed analysis so I can better understand the proposed policies and their implications, but at the same time I don't necessarily want to spend hours reading or listening to this content. Thus, the formats I chose were designed to balance understanding and efficiency. Summary videos and articles seem like a great way to get a lot of information quickly. Live minute-to-minute updates seem like a great way to stay informed with quick points about key things said in the Presidential Nominee's speech. But then in-depth analysis allows me to go and get a deeper look at the speech, either in whole or in part, if I want to gain a deeper understanding.
How do we deliver the highest data quality?
Data quality is a fundamental aspect of Connect. We screen participants using Sentry®, CloudResearch's patented participant vetting system, to ensure they are attentive, engaged, and provide high-quality responses. The CloudResearch team regularly monitors the Connect participant pool data quality and reviews researcher feedback to identify and quarantine bad actors. Connect
also includes various technical checks to ensure that participants are using a single account, are not submitting multiple responses from one IP address, and come from approved geolocations. Read more in our white paper.
